Non-Alc Entrepreneur Emma Pike’s Picks

Emma is a serial entrepreneur who has started over 10 businesses since age 15, from swimwear to tech to meat. Her latest venture is Free Spirit, Singapore’s first non-alcoholic bottle shop. When Douglas and I met her on our recent visit to Singapore, we asked her to curate her current non-alc picks.

Beers

Drop Bear Tropical IPA

Love the little hint of ash and refreshing tropical flavors. A bit crafty, which I like.

Lucky Saint Lager

The best lager I’ve had to date. Often, an alcohol-free lager is a bit watery. Lucky Saint is a full-bodied lager with tones of flavor.

Hawkesbury Pale Ale

One of the best beers coming out of Australia. Refreshing and crisp, but not too crafty or hoppy, making it a great “go-to” beer.

Spirits

Pearsons Gin

This alcohol-free gin is the closest thing to a traditional gin on the market. I’m not a botanical gin fan, so this is a real gin alternative to me.

Forged Counterfeit Tramonto Bitters

So useful when it comes to making cocktails. Brings a bitter profile to the drink, and you don’t need a double shot to get the flavor, so it’s a great value.

Wines

Noughty Sparkling Rose

Love this. Only 14 calories a glass, low in sugar, and honestly tastes like you’re having a glass of sparkling rose. Looks the part, smells the part, and tastes the part.

Giesen Sauvignon Blanc

Wine is so hard to get right, but the winemakers at Giesen hit the spot with this one. Crisp Sauvignon Blanc flavors. Great on the nose and on the palate.

Altina Sansgria

Red wine is hard to match to the real thing, but this Sangria alternative from Altina is perfect if you live in a hot climate or want something refreshing in the summer. It’s really like you’re having an alcoholic sangria on the beach in Spain.
