Predicting 2023, Likeable Cocktails & Paloma Madness

Welcome to the ninth edition of High Spirits, the Dry Atlas newsletter on all the latest happenings in booze-free!

The 17 20 Best Nonalcoholic Drinks

Reviews by professional critics and reviews from the people can both help you decide what to drink. We’re all about the latter here at Dry Atlas but you better believe we are reading what the critics have to say as well.

Wirecutter’s 17 Best Nonalcoholic Drinks by Anna Perling continues to be one of the most thoughtful and in-depth articles on adult non-alc beverages I’ve seen. It’s long but you should take the time to read the whole thing, it’s worth it.

For those looking to cut straight to Anna’s top 17, here they are.

You’ll see at the bottom of that post that I’ve rounded out Anna’s 17 picks by adding 3 of my own recommendations based on bestsellers at Spirited Away. To mirror Anna’s criteria, I’ve excluded spirit alts, wines, beers, kombuchas, etc.

New Brand X Dry Atlas happy hours

Thanks to all who joined me to sample Jas’ Oaxaca-inspired Paloma Libre canned cocktails this past Wednesday! The weekly Dry Atlas happy hours have been a big success and we’re going to keep the good times rolling every Wednesday from 5-7.

Join me from 5-7pm today, Wed, 12/14, to try Lyre’s new-to-the-US-market Highland Malt Scotch whiskey alternative, which we’ll be serving with Sayso’s Old Fashioned. Swing by and check them both out!

Next Wednesday, 12/21, get ready to try Cut Above’s four brand new spirit alternatives.

What do you think of Dry Atlas? What brands are missing?

Looking for drinks that are completely free from alcohol? A new collection dropped just for you. More on this topic in an upcoming newsletter!

No & low drinks made #2 on Kara Newman’s list of drink predictions for 2023. I’m seeing her #3 & #4 play out at Spirited Away too, with customers loving agave spirit alts and agave ready-to-drink cocktails like palomas.

Kara’s #7 is dead-on too. Some of my favorite (cocktail) creators are LikeableCocktails, ThirstyWhale and Tory.xyz. Who am I missing?
